David Lebel has spent more than 50 years working with wood as a Maine homebuilder, arborist, and fine woodworker. His current work has turned toward giving a second life to salvaged trees felled by lightning or wind, or compromised by beetles or fungi. His lathe work honors the life of each tree by seeing beauty in their scars and peculiarities – transforming them into heirloom objects that bear the marks of their lives.
