Sonja Bergquist

Rockland, ME

Sonja can be translated to Sophie, which is Bergquist's sister's name, and which also means Wisdom. She don't carry that adjective confidently now, but hopes to one day. Wood is an endlessly fascinating material which Sonja continue to explore through the development of utilitarian items and freeform sculptural ponderings. As a woodwork teacher, she is inspired daily by the thoughtful questions of my students and the ways children adapt to mistakes.
