Megan Magill is an artist whose studio practice embraces drawing, printmaking and photography as stepping stones and conspirators to her whimsical paintings. Through a process that involves found imagery, improvised methods and a reliance on chance her work pays homage to all that is strange and wonderful in our lives. Magill has shown throughout the US and makes her work in her studio in Brooksville, Maine.

MEGAN'S LIST OF MOST USED/LOVED TOOLS + MATERIALS

  1. R&F Pigment sticks- I love these because you can draw with them or use them with a brush. They work well with my intutive and many times impulsive painting style.

  2. Sennelier Oil Paint in Pale Ochre- I am painting a lot of people lately and this is a great first layer so I paint the entire panel in it first.

  3. Williamsburg Oils- worth the money

  4. Da Vinci Pro Birch painting panels--you can by them in sets so they are cheaper and they don't need to be sanded first.

  5. Speedball Squeegee---I did a lot of screenprinting but now I use them to make marks on my paintings..once again they are good for the impulsive painter ..or the anal one

  6. Cheap paintnbrushes....I am rough on my brushes and I have never found that spending premium money made much of a difference. Royal Langnickel Golden Taklon Large Area Brushes - Flats, Set of 12 for $25...they are great for painting hair

  7. Rags from Viking....always need rags

  8. Princeton Catalyst Contours and wedges- good for making marks

  9. Liquitex Freestyle Brush - Flat Splatter, Short Handle- If I want to paint stars or lightening bugs this is the tool

  10. Excel Blades #9 Single-Edge Razor Blades- usefull to scrape off paint

Goes well with...
